Dean Felber
Behind the upbeat rhythm of Hootie & the Blowfish is bassist, Dean Felber. While in high school in Maryland, he played in a band alongside fellow band member, Mark Bryan. Despite Felber's musical affinity, he chose to major in finance at the University of South Carolina after graduating high school. However, he eventually joined Mark Bryan, Darius Rucker and Jim Sonefeld on the road to musical success and stardom.

With Felber on bass, Hootie & the Blowfish changed the musical landscape with their unique sound and style, achieving mass success across radio, worldwide touring, and TV appearances, which led to selling over 25 million albums to date.

Always thankful for the gifts he's been given, Felber, along with his band mates, have made continued efforts throughout their career to pay it forward. The Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation was established in 2000 to support public education issues in their home state of South Carolina.

With Hootie responsibilities primarily centered on a few philanthropic events a year, Felber is now able to indulge another passion - winemaking. Felber was elated to discover one of the country's best sommeliers, Mark Ray, also living in Charleston. Shortly thereafter, Perception Wines was born. Perception Wines focuses on small-lot, handcrafted, delectable wines, which Felber enjoys sharing with friends and family.

Felber's wife, Andrea and his three children often enjoy outdoor camping trips, fishing and boating on the Wando River.
